Synopsis[]

PC's are like the Burger King of gaming. Through mods, players can have it their own way. The modders have shown developers how it's done. Mods have amused, bemused and blown us away.

5. Just Cause 2 multiplayer. Nick loves open box sandbox games and was spoiled by Just Cause 2. It was just missing one thing - or a few hundred things! The joys of having hundreds of other players in the same game was a short lived one. Nick never thought he would get so sick of the word 'Alienware'. Nick will never forget racing limos around the airport, plane battles, or flying barges through the air.

4. Nehrim. The Elder Scrolls will be close to the top of the most modded game out there. Only one mod per franchise can make it, so it goes to Nehrim. It is a complete overhaul that it is practically its own game. It's own story, world, lore and gameplay mechanics. It will last dozens of hours. It is possible to mod the mod!

3. DayZ. Nick discusses Armor 2. It is known better as the game that allowed you to play DayZ. This MMO RPG mod is more well known then the game it is based off of. So many people wanted in on the zombie apocalypse.  It's popularity helped it become a stand alone game.

2. Counter-strike 1.6. Not must a surprise. Counterstrike was originally a mod of Half Life 2. It was so competitive that it qualifies for eSports. Nick discusses the highlights of Counterstrike. 1.6 was the final mod release, and to many the pinnacle of the series.

1. DOTA. League of Legends and MOBAS are super popular today. It can be tracked down to a Warcraft 3 mod. Defense of the Ages, or DOTA bought the world a whole new game mode. It is the reverse tug of war - instead of pulling, you're pushing. At any time, half of people playing Warcraft 3 will be playing DOTA.

  • Project M. This made Nick want to make an extended video, and he is disappointed that it didn't make the list. Project M is unique as it is a mod for a console game - Smash Bros. It balances the game for competitive game. It still works as if it is a new Smash game. Moves work differently, there are small quirks that make it feel completely different. Nick wants everyone to go play it.
  • Randy Savage Dragons. There are so many Elder Scrolls mods. The Randy Savage dragons are crazy. Why does this exist? It's hilarious and stupid.
  • Falskaar. This almost made the list. Falskaar put together an extensive addition to Skyrim, including recording new dialog in order to land a job at Bethesda. It was so impressive that he got a job at Bungie instead.
  • Graphics overhauls. The first thing people tend to install are graphics overhauls. Nick uses it for Skyrim. GTA IV with an enhancer looks better then GTA V.
  • Garry's Mod. Garry's Mod is a household name. It is hard to find something that is gameplay when searching for it.
