Synopsis[]

As great as the Switch is, the jury is still out on whether it will be good or not. Nintendo's history of consoles has been all over the place.

Best[]

5. Nintendo 64. One of the best things about games is playing with or against your friends. Nintendo nailed it perfectly with the Nintendo 64. Four controller ports made it better than the competition's, and opened up Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye, Super Smash Bros, Mario Party, Bomberman 64, and way too many others. Zelda, Mario and some of Rare's best games are worth getting the console on their own.

4. Gameboy. What the NES did for home consoles, the Gameboy did for handheld. A battery hog that had four shades of vomit green, but it had many awesome games - only two of which are required for its placement on this list. Tetris and Pokemon. The Gameboy is super tough. One got blown up in the Gulf War, and it still works!

3. Nintendo DS. Nick remembers people asking who wants to play games with a pen? The answer was millions of people. Nick's mind was blown when he could play Super Mario 64 on the go. Nintendogs, Brain Age,  Elite Beat Agents, and the first console to have online play.

2. Nintendo Entertainment System. The NES put Nintendo on the map. Where would we be without Mario, Zelda, Castlevania, Final Fantasy, Metroid or the other gems. There were a lot of experimental peripherals including the power glove.

1. Super Nintendo Entertainment System. There was a time when Nintendo had the most powerful console on the market. It was so powerful that it delivered the first 3D games available. It's line up has the best variety of games to date, Nintendo or otherwise. Nick wishes he owned an SNES for Mario World, Donkey Kong COuntry, Final Fantast VI, Chrono Trigger, Link to the Past, Secret of Mana, Super Mario Kart, Yoshi's Island etc.

Everyone is really here for the worst consoles.

Worst[]

5. Nintendo 64. We went there! There is a lot to love about the Nintendo 64, but it was outdated before it launched. It was still using cartridges when its competitors had switched to CDs, it didn't have stickers on the top of the cartridges, and the controller looks like bananas.

4. Gameboy Micro. What was the point of the Gameboy Micro? You can swap out the face plates! You can't have a lid or use the Gameboy peripherals but yay! face plates! You would be better off getting a DS.

3. Wii U. Nintendo can be behind the times. The Wii U was way behind the times. This screen that came out in 2012 doesn't have multi-touch, and it loses signal if it is moved to the next room, and it cannot be replaced! If the console is broken, your games are linked to the hardware, and they are gone forever. If you were looking for something not made by Nintendo, you would be better off with anything else on the market.

2. Nintendo PlayStation. This console had zero games. The only one known in existance was found in a box in a garage sale. It is a joke entry as it was never released.

1. Virtual Boy. Of course the worst blunder was going to appear on the list. It was the 3D red and black headache machine that make kids throw up! It had 22 games, and could entertain you for minutes! Nintendo partnered with Blockbuster to increase sales by letting them rent the console. It didn't boost sales, in fact it stopped them all together. It took 20 years for them to achknowledge its existance!
