Synopsis

For every unique game, there were 50 that sucked. These are the worst games of the year.

10. Metal Gear Survive - Konami. The internal politics about Metal Gear were stupid, and the way the Kojima situation was handled was even more enraging. Metal Gear Survive was always seen to be in bad taste from the moment it was announced. Metal Gear is about stealth, but this is part tower defense. The main character gets sucked into an alternate dimension with zombies all over the place! It was a mediocre mismatch. Nobody was surprised.

9. Morphies Law - Cosmoscope GMBH. This was a personal disappointment for Nick. When Morphies Law was announced for the Switch, it sounded like something Peter Molynuex would come up with. It is a shooter where shooting a body part increases the size of that body part on you. It is more confusing in practice, and doesn't make the game more fun. Everything just feels like other games like Splatoon, Overwatch and Call of Duty. It was a creative idea, but better luck next time.

8. Super Seducer - RLR Training Inc. We all thought it was a joke. This game was about picking up seduction secrets. You get the feeling this guy is serious about the tips he gives. Calling her a baby lamb was the right choice?! It feels like a cringe video. Even Nick got married after spending his life being awkward. Nick gives actual dating advice. Don't buy Super Seducer.

7. Fallout 76 - Bethesda Game Studios. How does Fallout end up on the worst list? Bethesda games are buggy, but the bugs don't do enough to take away from the gameplay. However, Fallout 76 had no gameplay, and was filled with bugs. Except Fallout 76 had no gameplay and lots of bugs. The game with no NPCs felt like an ambitious experiment, but it was an obviously bad decision that backfired. Nick hopes the game turns into a No Man's Sky or Sea of Thieves where the game gets better over time.

6. Agony - Madmind Studio. This game is called Agony. It captures the experience of hell very well. It is pretty gross. The game felt like hell, with unforgiving checkpoints and repetitive gameplay. There will be a lot of skulls on things! There is not enough player direction. You can possess some lost souls, but only if they don't have bags on their heads!

5. The Walking Dead - Overkill Software. Telltale getting canned wasn't the biggest disappointment this year. The Walking Dead seemed like it was up Nic's alley, with each character having their own skills. Left 4 Dead kept things interesting with randomized elements and unique combat situations, this game feels monotonous and unpolished. How is a co-op game made in 2018 without voice chat?! Get a Left 4 Dead game instead.

4. Crisis on the Planet of the Apes - Overkill Software. The Planet of the Apes trilogy was pretty good. What if they were put into a horrible 90s rail shooter that is slow, boring and VR. Crisis on the Planet of the Apes was like an ape clumsily using a gun. The controls are awful, and the enemies would be easy to shoot if it was competently made. The checkpoint system is horrendous.

3. The Quiet Man - Square Enix / Human Head Studios. Nick discusses other games involving perople who were blind. The there was The Quiet Man. Instead of using deafness in an interesting way, it becomes frustrating. It would be nice to know what anyone is saying. The main character seems to know what is up.

"This is the actual sound mix. For the entire game."

The beat em up segments are very simple, and the sound can be inserted in. Nick discusses how the audio works, and if it goes bad it is obvious.

2. The Culling 2 - Xaviant. The original The Culling was a popular enough game. However, it was ditched early for another battle royale game. The game was so bad, that the game was pulled a week after release. When PUBG, Fortnite and Jojo's Bizare Adventure all have battle royale, games will need to do something to stand out. Somehow The Culling 2 looked worse than PUBG! At least the first game had some identity. The developers ended up going back to working on the first game!

1. Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn - Big Deez Productions. If the there is only one game that can take has had a fierce rivalry - not the salsa challenge, or the time Soulja Boi chickened out of a gaming challenge. Our internal struggle against the worst game ever made - Shaq Fu. We dreaded the year the kickstarted sequel would show itself. It lives up to its 'legacy'. Shaq Fu Reborn is self aware and tongue in cheek. There are endless references all over the place. Worst of all, it is a digital only game, which means we can't continue the legacy of destroying it!

11.Bendy and the Ink Machine™ - TheMeatly Games LLC. Bendy and the Ink Machine™ is a first person puzzle action horror game that begins in the far days past of animation and ends in a very dark future.
